Missouri Football Coaches Association Names 3 High School Players to the Inaugural MFCA Hands Team for 2017

Nov. 30 - The Missouri Football Coaches Association has released their 2017 MFCA Hands Team.  This award exemplifies the selflessness and community service displayed by Missouri high school student-athletes who make outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement and embody the true spirit of “teamwork” and “giving back” through commendable acts of kindness.  It honors their dedication to volunteerism and enriching the lives of others.

Earlier this season, Missouri high school Head Football Coaches and/or members of the coaching staff, high school Principals and guidance counselors across the state submitted nominations of players they felt best embodied the spirit of the Hands Team award.  A voting panel consisting of members of the Missouri Football Coaches Association from around the state selected the award recipients.

“For me, the MFCA Hands Team embodies what it means to be successful as a student-athlete,” said Brian Van Hauen (Asst. Coach - Liberty High School) Chairman of the MFCA Hands Team Committee.  “I know it is important to develop the skills of players on the field, but it is far greater to encourage these young people to see all the positive things they can do off the field and help them realize the influence they can have in their communities.”

In addition to Van Hauen, the 2017 MFCA Hands Team selection panel includes:  Lance Jarman (Asst. Coach - Springfield Kickapoo), Andy Lierman (Asst. Coach - Liberty North), Scott Guthrie (Asst. Coach - Pembroke Hill), and Jason Maeder (Asst. Coach - Liberty).

The following players have been named to the 2017 MFCA Hands Team:

Joshua Corf - Liberty High School, Liberty, MO

Landon Montgomery - Raytown South High School, Raytown, MO

Ridge Bickel - Jefferson R-7 High School, Festus, MO

“The 2017 MFCA Hands Team members are terrific examples of the great student-athletes that are on high school football teams all across our state,” said Van Hauen.  “The MFCA takes great pride in honoring these outstanding student-athletes, who go above and beyond to make their schools and communities a better place.”
